ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήMiddlesbrough have signed Hamburg midfielder Mickael Tavares on loan and were hoping to include him against Barnsley at the weekend.
Boro were awaiting clearance from the German FA for the Senegalese international who originally lost his place following a change of manager at his club and spent the second half of last season helping Nuremberg avoid relegation from the Bundesliga.
"I am looking forward to it and hope I can earn a permanent contract here," Tavares told Boro's official website. "I know English football is very aggressive, physical and tough, but so is German football. I think they are very similar so it shouldn't be too difficult for me to play here.
"I enjoyed training with the team and it is clear that there are some very good players at the club," he continued. "I know some of them have played in the Premier League and in the top division in Scotland too. I will do my best to play a great game for Middlesbrough."
Manager Gordon Strachan's midfield options have recently become seriously stretched at the Riverside after Willo Flood, Kevin Thomson and Gary O'Neil joined Rhys Williams on the injured list.
"Mickael is a holding midfielder but he can do a bit more too, so I think he'll be a good addition. I really like what I've seen of him," added the Boro chief. "With the number of injuries we have in midfield, we certainly need him."
